How was February for you? It was pretty eventful for us at Meadow Hall Foundation.
Sponsor A Child project
The month started with a partnership with PiggyVest for our Sponsor a Child project. One in every five of the world’s out-of-school children is in Nigeria. How do we produce leaders of tomorrow if our children cannot afford a basic education?
Education is the engine that drives societal transformation; indeed, it is a legacy that is passed on from one generation to the next. Sadly, Nigeria has the most out of school children in the world with a total of 10.5 million Children. In 2021, Meadow Foundation launched the Sponsor A Child project in its adopted school – Ilasan Nursery & Primary School. To encourage more students to stay in school while supporting families below the poverty line, Meadow Hall Foundation has partnered with PiggyVest to sponsor more children at the school. This partnership will have PiggyVest match the funds raised between 1st of February, 2022 – 31st of July, 2022, on the PiggyVest app. The target is N2,500,000 and once it is achieved, the Foundation will have N5,000,000 at its disposal to cater for 166 students in Ilasan Nursery & Primary School for the 2022/2023 Academic session. So far, we have raised N250,000

The goal of this course is to create a sense of responsibility & accountability amongst the students as they build their leadership skills. We had three sessions with them on Attitude, Personal Growth & Priority. The facilitator for the sessions is Mr. Gbenga Samuel, a certified John Maxwell trainer. You can watch one of the sessions HERE
Recycling
We partnered with Watowe Enterprise on their #SaveTheEnvironmentWithTheKids project. The CEO, Babatunde Sanni, visit the school to educate them on the importance of recycling. You can watch the session HERE
Anoela Cards
The Anoela team visited our primary one students at Ilasan Nursery & Primary school for their Valentine’s workshop. The children were given greeting cards and allowed to express themselves, which they did beautifully! We might have the next Onabolu Aina in Ilasan school. You can look at the session HERE
Literacy day
There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book. —Frank Serafini
Reading is a very important skill that exercises children’s comprehension & analytic abilities. It improves concentration & teaches children about the world. The importance of reading cannot be understated as it improves vocabulary & language skills and opens up and develops their imagination.
The students in Ilasan Nursery & Primary school had a reading session with Titilayo Adenuga on her book “I am Mindful.” I am Mindful is a simple story book that can be used as a practical introduction to teaching children about consent, showing compassion and building character. It is a story and coloring book all in one designed to make learning fun and to keep the readers engaged. . You can watch the session HERE
ANTI-BULLYING
On the 26th of February, 2022, Meadow Hall Foundation hosted a webinar tagged ‘Curbing Bullying in Schools’ on the 26th of February, 2022, with Karo Omu, Tayo Olasanoye, Janet Ogba, Bidemi Oyedepo & Michelle Oyemade. The discussion was insightful. The questions ranged from defining Bullying, the cause(s) of bullying, the types of bullying, the psychological long-term effects on the bullied to how Bullying can be curbed in schools.
You can listen to the webinar HERE
Also, for Anti-Bullying Day we partnered with Toniverse, a poet with a great passion for connecting emotions and words, who delivered a spoken word poem on Bullying. You can listen to the spoken word HERE

Have a lovely & beautiful month. We pray this month brings unlimited favor and blessings.
]]>At the end of 2021, the inflation rate in Nigeria rose to 15.63% and as a result, prices went up and our purchasing power fell. The markets are expensive, the cost of living in Nigeria is ridiculous so the lower class are sinking deeper and deeper into poverty. Families are struggling to eat talk less of affording an education. This gives rise to the question: How can our leaders of tomorrow get quality education if they can’t afford to be in school?
In 2018, Meadow Hall Foundation created a core centre in Ikorodu, Lagos, in partnership parish church to train out of school children for free every day for the entire year, learning math, English & civic studies. This bore fruit as some students improved their literacy skills and others were enrolled in neighboring schools; but unfortunately, the project was not sustainable. In 2021, Meadow Foundation launched the Sponsor A Child project in its adopted school – Ilasan Nursery & Primary School. The Sponsor A Child project aims to keep in the children in school by paying their tuition and lunch for the academic session, whilst redistributing wealth to the food vendor, who will receive over two million naira each academic session. Currently, the project is sponsoring 100 children at the school.

]]>Our next project at Ilasan Nursery & Primary School is a Christmas Party for the students where we provide Santa, a Dj, an MC, food, drinks, snacks, party packs etc. Every child should be able to live a life full of joy and peace and that is why we would like to treat the children this Christmas so they can have a good time with their friends and loved ones.
At Meadow Hall Foundation we believe that a change for our nation will begin, one community at a time and together, we can improve the quality of Education for generations to come. It’s a process.

• Building of a sick bay
• Payment of the salary of the security guard
• Renovation of two nursery classes
• Annual Christmas parties for the children.
As we are aware, the cost of living in Nigeria rises daily and the inflation rate is 15.97%. The obvious result of this fact is the lower class whose children make up the Ilasan Nursery and Primary School, are most affected making it difficult for them to get by. This gives rise to the question: How can our leaders of tomorrow get quality education if they can’t afford to be in school?
We are calling on all concerned citizens, old and young, to help support parents and pupils of the school in order to secure a sound education for the children.
Sponsor A Child project aims to cover the tuition fees & feeding of the children in Ilasan Nursery & Primary School. The cost per session for a child is N30,000 while the cost per term for a child is N10,000.
Please join us in this laudable project so that together, we can improve the quality of education for generations to come.
May God bless you and reward your labour of love.

]]>The convention commenced with the lovely Ayo Mairo-Ese welcoming our participants into the virtual conference room, which she labeled the “new normal” due to the post-effect of the Covid-19 on the world.
“In the past one year, we have seen a change around the world,” She began. “And the pandemic, the covid-19 pandemic, has changed the way we know life to be, including the education sector. Now for the fourth edition, the fact that we are having it virtually is testament to the fact that things have changed and we are adapting to what is popularly known as the new normal.”
Rethinking Education: Adapt, Adjust and Achieve was born out of the need to sustain education as we implement new systems due to the changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Shortly after, she introduced our panel moderator for the first panel session – Dr. Modupe Adefeso-Olateju. Popularly known as Dr. Mo, she expressed her delight with the theme of the convention because covid has redesigned the world.
“The systems that were once a necessity, put in place for our functionality have all be restructured, pretty much,” She said. “So, we have had to reassess our current situation to find sustainable means of survival. Covid has put everyone in a bit of a tricky spot; but it is further proof that humanity will always triumph in any situation because we can adapt, we can adjust and we can achieve.”
Dr. Mo then invited our panelists to the stage – Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu (Managing Partner, GrandCentral), Mrs. Yinka Obafisoye (Head of School, Meadow Hall School), Mrs. Funke Fowler-Amba (Director, Vivian Fowler), Nike Akerele-De Souza (Education & Employability Specialist), discussing the theme of the Convention – Rethinking Education: Adapt, Adjust & Achieve. What followed was an hour of very intense and intellectual discussions from our panelists. You can watch the session HERE.
We had the privileged of having our keynote address be delivered by the Honorable Commissioner of Education for Lagos State, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, who delivered the most amazing speech.
“The way we ran schools during the pandemic,” She said. “it was innovative, I agree, in some ways, but for me, in many instances, what I saw was that all we did was to transfer our normal pedagogical practice, our normal classroom practices from the classroom online. That is the same limited range of instructional strategies in the classroom, the same limited range of assessment, methodologies, in the classroom. So, at the end of the day it wasn’t that great; as great as it should have and would have been.”
You can listen to the rest of her speech here: Instagram/Youtube.
What followed was a beautifully written and delivered spoken word rendition titled “Public Service Accountment” by Ms. Koromone “KK’ Koroye, Manager Edutrix, Techcabal. To see her performance, please click HERE.
The Convention divided out into breakout sessions after a quiz sponsored by Google Nigeria following the spoken word rendition. These sessions included:
• Teaching and the Future of Work facilitated by Mr. Ola Opesan (Maxpot)
• Teacher Professional Development and using technology to support teachers facilitated by Mr. Ebuka Ufere (Google Nigeria)
• Getting It Right in Our Schools facilitated by Mr. Johnson Abbaly (LightField House International)
• School Owners’ Workshop: School Financial Management facilitated by Ms. Kaleyemi Kalesanwo (Stanbic Bank)
At the end of the breakout sessions, all the participants were welcomed back to the main room with a TedX talk by Ms. Tundun Olugbenro, a Meadow Hall College student, titled “I Am Not Your Stereotype.” You can watch it HERE
Afterwards, Mrs. Mairo-Ese introduced the panel moderator – Mrs. Vibha Kothari-Singh, for the Stories Worth Sharing Panel session.
“Today, we are going to talk about stories,” Mrs. Kothari-Singh began. “As a child, you’ve always known your anecdotes, you remember your anecdotes. A child always relates to any item through stories and that’s what we over here are about to give to you. We are about to give you stories and experiences from four wonderful panelists that we have here today.”
As the name of the session implies, it was created for the purpose of sharing stories to learn from their experiences. Our panelists for the session were Mr. Olalekan Adeeko (Winner, INSEA 2018 Teacher Category. Founder, TEDPRIME), Mr. Soji Megbowon (Winner, INSEA 2019 teacher category. Convener, STEM CLUB), Mrs. Tajirinere Ukeje (Founder/Lead Instructor, Techiest Kids Zone) and Ms. Gbemisola Alonge (Development Analyst, Stears Business). This session was as delightful as it was insightful. It took us into bubbles we didn’t know existed. You can watch the session HERE.
The ‘Stories Worth Sharing’ Panel session was the last order of the day and the closing remarks was given by the Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Kehinde Nwani.

]]>1. Education Convention: The Fourth Edition of the Education Convention will hold on the 22nd of May, 2021, and the theme is Rethinking Education: Adapt, Adjust & Achieve. Unlike the previous editions, the Convention will be FREE for all and hosted virtually on Zoom & YouTube. The Education Convention will host the likes of the Commissioner of Lagos: Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, Dr. Kehinde Nwani, Dr. Modupe Adefeso-Olateju, Mrs. Funke Fowler-Amba, Mr. Johnson Abbaly, Mrs. Nike Akerele-De Souza etc. To register for this event, please click the here.
2. Teacher Professional Development Program (TPDT): We hosted three webinars on our All About Teachers Facebook platform, which was created solely for the development of Teachers. The first Webinar held in January was titled Human Resource Management – Resolving Conflict between co-workers; led by Busayo Ogunsanya, Human Resource Officer at Meadow Hall Group. The next two webinars held in February were titled – Applying Innovation in Education and Leveraging Digital Teaching Resources in the classroom by Kelechi Uchenna, Co-Founder of Ningenius. In addition to these webinars, we also organized training videos in Child Learning, Tech in Education, Brand Management & Transforming your Life. Each topic had five episodes and the final episodes were posted last month on our social media accounts. The upcoming training videos will focus on: Mental Health, Physical Health, Grammar & Diction and Customer Service.
3. School Adoption Program: Teachers can only do so much in a classroom setting. Without a conducive learning environment, learning aids, instructional materials and educational toys, teaching is simply incomplete. Knowing this, we revamped the two nursery classrooms at Ilasan Nursery & Primary School, by redoing the floors, walls, ceiling, purchasing new tables, chairs, shelves, toys, learning aids etc. in collaboration with Little Drops Fund & the parents of Meadow Hall College.
We also decided to go the extra mile in creating the Anti-Covid Relief Project, which will provide each student at Ilasan Nursery & Primary school with a face mask and a bottle of sanitizer after we noticed a lack of mask protection during our visit. For One Thousand Naira only, you can donate to this project using the details below:

]]>It is the third month of the year and life seems to be picking up once again. Enforcing Covid protocols has ensured our safety during the pandemic. Continue sanitizing, washing your hands, wearing your masks and social distancing, and the battle against Covid will be victorious.
Talking about victories, 2021 has begun with a couple. The renovation at Ilasan Nursery & Primary school has finally been completed. This project was done in collaboration with Little Drops Funds who ensured a complete revamp of the classrooms – the ceilings, roofs, walls & floors were redone. Education is more than just its content; it’s comfort as well. It has been proven that being in a comfortable setting improves learning. This warranted the revamp of both classes but it didn’t end there. With the help of Meadow Hall College students and parents, the revamp took a whole new turn. Furniture such as shoe racks, bookshelves, tables and chairs, with toys, instructional materials, educative sleeping mats and much more were purchased for both nursery classrooms at Ilasan. There is no greater joy than seeing the smile on a child’s face. This was a project long overdue. It began a year ago but Covid, along with the Government’s safety measures during this pandemic halted its process.

]]>Thank you for your unwavering support last year. 2020 wasn’t the easiest year for all of us, as we were taken aback by the pandemic that has lasted way longer than expected. The year set us back in so many ways we did not expect but if there is one thing for certain, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We should keep practicing social distancing, wear our masks and stay steadfast.
2020
Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, we couldn’t execute many of our programs. Chairs, tables, educational toys, shelves, instructional materials, mattresses etc. were also purchased in collaboration with students & parents of Meadow Hall Education.

]]>At Meadow Hall Foundation we have and will always prioritize the quality of education for the Nigerian Child. To achieve that, the quality of teachers will have to improve. With the lockdown imposed by the government for our safety due to Covid-19, we continued organising webinars on our All About Teachers Online Platforms.
Mrs. Nkechi Fakoya, Head of Infant School at Meadow Hall opened the waves with the topic “Learning in a time of social distancing”. She delved into the tools and methods required for effective remote and online learning.
A session on “Covid-19 & The Naira: The financial implications of the pandemic on private schools” was also facilitated by Michael Famoroti, the Chief Economist at Stears Nigeria. Mr. Famoroti educated School Owners and Teachers on the need for organisational and financial sustainability.
The following webinar was about Physical Health- Exercise & Online Schooling: The ABC’s of Working Out by Abayomi Oladinni, Founder of Fitcabal & CEO of Dinn Active Wellness Consult. The lockdown had rendered us immobile and less active than before, so Mr. Oladinni taught various ways we can stay in shape while being indoors. Health certainly is Wealth.
The winner of INSEA 2018, Mr. Oluwafemi Olaponmile, was brought into the fold to educate his peers on “Managing the Classroom & the Student: Understanding the needs of the classroom and the needs of the student.” A case deemed very important and necessary, as there needs to be the understanding to know how efficiently prioritize the development of the class as a whole and each student individually especially in a blended learning system.
Understanding the constant evolution of the world we live in and how advanced technology is becoming daily, there is the need to match the advancement. Education shouldn’t play catch up and taking that into consideration we sought out Mrs. Tony-Ubah, an INSEA Winner, to facilitate the webinar Transforming Education For The 21st Century Learner.
Acknowledging the importance of ensuring the comfort of the students by creating a trusting environment is important in creating well-rounded children who will attain their highest potentials which is one of Meadow Hall Foundation’s aims.
Mr. Lanre Oguntuye, INSEA winner 2019, facilitated our webinar titled “Creating A Safe Space & Establishing A Relationship With Your Students.”
“Safety is Safety Always.” – Charles Melville Hays.
We had several other online pieces of training and webinars with topics such as Technology Tools for Creating Learning Contents, Using Class Time Well: Active (Online) Learning, Errors Teachers Must Avoid, Discipline the Hall Mark of Efficiency, Teacher Professional Development, The Future of Teaching, etc.
Our veteran INSEA Ambassador Mrs. Remi Tanimola facilitated a webinar titled “How to be An Effective Teacher” on the 26th of September, 2020. Being an Effective teacher equates to being an all-rounded educator which is a priority for the emotional, physical, and mental development of teachers.
Our next webinar is on the 3rd of October, 2020, Titled “Brand Management: Creating a reputation for your school”. It will be facilitated by Koromone “KK” Koroye.
As the government has eased lockdown and schools are reopening, Meadow Hall Foundation has created an initiative that will protect the children in public and low-income schools from Covid-19. With Keep the Children Safe Initiative (KCSI), we plan to install anti-Covid-19 hand sanitizer/hand wash stations in our adopted school and other public/community schools. ]]>Happy New Month!
We hope you are keeping safe during this pandemic and following the guidelines put in place to keep all of us safe. We can only hope everything returns to normal soon.
Although COVID-19 put a halt to physical activities, that didn’t deter us at Meadow Hall foundation. We believe education is a lifelong process, every opportunity to learn should be seized.
Through our All About Teachers Facebook platform, professional development trainings and mentoring opportunities to equip teachers, with the latest evidence-based strategies in education, were held. Whatsapp webinars were also held on the All About Teachers Whatsapp platform, these sessions were highly interactive and engaging.
Taking to thought our new reality and the advancement of technology and its capabilities, our first webinar on the Facebook platform during the lockdown was on the The Future Of Learning: Facilitating E-Learning, facilitated by Nkechi Fakoya, Director of Studies (Infant School) Meadow Hall Education. The third webinar was facilitated by Toluse Francis on the 15th of May, 2020, and titled Mind + Tech: Finding a Balance. The purpose of this webinar was to expatiate on the impact of technology on our mental health. You can access this here.
We have an upcoming webinar titled, COVID-19 & the Naira: The financial implications of the pandemic on private schools, to be facilitated by Mr. Michael Famoroti, Chief Economist of Stears Nigeria, scheduled to hold on the 11th of June, 2020. To listen in click the link here.
The webinars on our Whatsapp platform are a daily occurrence filled with intellectual discussions as they range from Teachers and Financial Freedom to Post Covid-19 School Assessment: Implication for Schools, School owners, Teachers & QA Evaluators.
These webinars are to encourage teachers that all hope isn’t lost during the pandemic, and despite data limitations and other constraints such as technological solutions, learning never stops.
Before the lockdown in Lagos State, we had been working on the renovation of the nursery classrooms at Ilasan Nursery and Primary School in partnership with Little Drops Funds. The plan was to redo the roof, ceilings, tile the floors, repaint the classrooms, redo the doors & windows and purchase toys and equipment for the classrooms. The purpose was to give the little ones a safe space for their education. You can find some pictures of the ongoing project here.
Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that the Nigerian Child have access to quality education.
