November 2019
Dear Readers,
Happy New Month!
It’s a brand new month filled with exciting opportunities and Christmas is almost here, yayyy! At Meadow Hall Foundation, we are most thrilled this ‘giving’ period and have interesting on-going and completed projects information to share with you.
As you know, we are focused on improving the educational outcomes of the Nigerian child by enhancing teacher and teaching quality, through continuous upskilling for effectiveness on the job. We believe that the quality of an education system is as good as the quality of its teachers and more so, teachers are key to the achievement of the global education goal.
So, we are elated to share some of the projects we have been engaged in, these past months with you;
Through our Teacher Professional Development Training (TPDT) initiative, we had two (2) training engagements – ‘Train the Trainers’ and ‘Art for Nation Building’.
The ‘Train the Trainers’ project as initiated by our Founder, Mrs. Kehinde Nwani, was proposed to engage and train current and previous winners of the Inspirational Educator Awards (INSEA), who in turn further train other teachers in their communities and states across Nigeria. Being a passionate educator herself, she insisted that learning and development should be a continuous act and further encouraged the INSEA ambassadors to be lifelong learners and proud advocates for the teaching profession. The ‘Train the Trainer’ project is intended to be a re-filler for our finest, brilliant and innovative educators in Nigeria, who champion the need for a change of mindset and relentlessly advocate for the teaching profession. This event held on Saturday, 5th of October 2019 at Meadow Hall School, Lekki and facilitated by Mrs. Kehinde Nwani.
The ‘Art for Nation Building’ project held on Saturday, 26th October 2019 and was initiated to train educators, especially those from public and low-cost private schools serving children living in disadvantaged communities in Lagos, on practical ways/tools that can be used to create fun and colourful classroom decorations, using affordable and accessible materials. As a 21st century teacher, it is important that they stay ahead of the curb by learning new tricks, equipping themselves with better arsenal and improving their teaching techniques in order to stimulate the creativity of learners.
In partnership with the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AAF), we kicked off the fourth cohort of our leadership programme (AAF-MHF Leadership Programme) designed to strengthen students’ leadership abilities and develop future leaders. The new cohort commenced on Thursday, 12th September 2019 and runs twice monthly – from September till December 2019.
Also, in partnership with Choice Dental and Guaranty Trust Bank plc. (GTB), the sick bay at our adopted school, Ilasan Primary School was completed. Now, pupils and staff at Ilasan can have access to a modern and decent room to rest and receive first aid when ill.

Core Centre – Graduation Ceremony
December 2019: The Core Centre will be graduating its first set of pupils this December. The initiative which was birthed by our founder, Mrs. Kehinde Nwani is a community based education hub, set up in 2018 to equip out-of-school children living in disadvantaged communities on basic literacy, numeracy, ICT, civic education and vocational skills. The centre which is located in Ikorodu, caters for about thirty (30) children between the ages of 5 – 17. We also currently have eight (8) volunteer teachers daily giving their time to care for these children.
