Hello Dear Reader!
It is the second month of the year and we at Meadow Hall Foundation have been working really hard as we are dedicated to advancing the educational outcomes of the Nigerian Child by enhancing teaching quality, changing mindsets about teaching and advocating for the teaching profession. The Education sector has been long neglected and hence underperforming; and although Nigeria being a signatory to the global goals, which includes SDG4 – “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”, only N691.07 billion was allocated to the Education sector for 2020, which is 6.7% of the National budget. This is way off the 20% benchmark.
The importance Education plays cannot be overemphasized. Improving the quality of education is a strategic prerequisite for the development of any economy, of any country. Seeking a change and not just waiting for one to happen, Meadow Hall Foundation is taking several steps to help with the development of Education.
One of our initiatives is the Inspirational Educator Awards (INSEA), which awards N2 Million Naira only to the most inspiration school leader of the year, and N1 Million Naira only to the most inspirational school teacher of the year, is open for nominations and registrations. Aimed at elevating the teaching profession, nominations and registrations close on the 7th of March, 2020. The winners will be announced on the 25th of April, 2020, at Landmark Event Centre.
The Education Convention is another initiative that brings together school owners, policy makers, teachers and parents to discuss relevant topics and gain fresh perspective in relation to education. The theme of this year’s convention is The Future Of Education: Technology & Human Connection and will be holding on the 25th of April, 2020, at Landmark Event Centre. Registration is Five Thousand Naira Only (N5,000).
The quality of education relies a lot on the quality of educators. The output is as good as its input. Teachers impart knowledge on our leaders of tomorrow and to ensure their standard upgrades, Meadow Hall Foundation believes that running a Graduate Teacher Trainee Program (GTTP) is a panacea for this problem. GTTP is a 3 month program run at no cost to the graduate trainees which the objective to create an exceptional pool of teachers. This year’s program started on the 20th of January, 2020 and will end on the 9th of April, 2020.
A better tomorrow begins today.
