Happy New Month!
How was February for you? It was pretty eventful for us at Meadow Hall Foundation.
Sponsor A Child project
The month started with a partnership with PiggyVest for our Sponsor a Child project. One in every five of the world’s out-of-school children is in Nigeria. How do we produce leaders of tomorrow if our children cannot afford a basic education?
Education is the engine that drives societal transformation; indeed, it is a legacy that is passed on from one generation to the next. Sadly, Nigeria has the most out of school children in the world with a total of 10.5 million Children. In 2021, Meadow Foundation launched the Sponsor A Child project in its adopted school – Ilasan Nursery & Primary School. To encourage more students to stay in school while supporting families below the poverty line, Meadow Hall Foundation has partnered with PiggyVest to sponsor more children at the school. This partnership will have PiggyVest match the funds raised between 1st of February, 2022 – 31st of July, 2022, on the PiggyVest app. The target is N2,500,000 and once it is achieved, the Foundation will have N5,000,000 at its disposal to cater for 166 students in Ilasan Nursery & Primary School for the 2022/2023 Academic session. So far, we have raised N250,000

Literacy day
There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book. —Frank Serafini
Reading is a very important skill that exercises children’s comprehension & analytic abilities. It improves concentration & teaches children about the world. The importance of reading cannot be understated as it improves vocabulary & language skills and opens up and develops their imagination.
The students in Ilasan Nursery & Primary school had a reading session with Titilayo Adenuga on her book “I am Mindful.” I am Mindful is a simple story book that can be used as a practical introduction to teaching children about consent, showing compassion and building character. It is a story and coloring book all in one designed to make learning fun and to keep the readers engaged. . You can watch the session HERE
